Father and son duo Thomas and Nick have co-founded Slope Sober Living to bring the resources, tools, and community they have learned through their own experiences in addiction and recovery to men in Sunnyslope. Thomas was adopted at three weeks old and his biological son Nick was given up for adoption due to methamphetamine addiction and alcoholism.
On December 18, 2004, Thomas decided to turn his life around and entered a recovery program to beat his addictions. He is 18 years sober to this day and strives to help those in his community find the path to recovery.
Thomas’s son Nick grew up in California and was raised by an amazing family and did not learn about his biological father until his early twenties. Nick also struggled with alcoholism and an addiction to heroin and fentanyl. Nick entered a sober living program and has since remained sober for nearly two years while helping his biological father renovate a property in the Jerome, AZ, community. They reconnected after an anonymous text message brought them together and allowed them to start healing their relationship.
Together they plan to open two sober living facilities to help men in their recovery journey in the summer of 2023. Their shared experiences in both active addiction and active recovery have allowed them to gain a unique perspective that they hope to share with men on their path to sobriety.
S Mountain House and the Sunnyslope Lane House are designed to help men in active recovery find the community they need to help establish and maintain a sober lifestyle with compassion and understanding because we know the struggles of recovery firsthand.
As the local Phoenix community continues to see the damage caused by the fentanyl epidemic, Slope Sober Living hopes to help mitigate the risks presented by this potent opioid and help men take control of their futures. Our sober living facilities are a safe space for men to gain access to the resources and community they need to sustain sobriety.
